Max's story

Not long after Max died I sat down and wrote his story. It was intended for Leslie, as a special Christmas present, but it turned out it was for me, too. We don't have many memories of Max, so the things I have been able to do in his honour since he was born have been really meaningful in helping me forge a connection with him, even in his absence.

It was very hard to write. Everything felt so raw. But this makes it a more beautiful read, I think. I can see that the beauty of his story came from my pain, as does everything I have written or achieved since then.

As I didn't have the time, energy or resources to turn it into an actual book at that stage, I decided to make it a photo book, like what you make on the internet these days instead of compiling actual photo albums.

I cried a lot whilst I was making it, and as I was hiding it from Leslie, this became rather difficult to pull off.

Still, though, I finished, and everyone I've showed it to has agreed that it is indeed the story of a very special little boy. As I'm not super skilled with those photo sites it doesn't look as good as I would have liked, but I do intend to have his story published professionally at some stage.

For now, here is what the book looks like, and I've now included the story as part of this blog, under Max's Story, which I would love to share with you.
